Zippo the Collectors Lighter

If you did have a light, the odds are you would have pulled out a Zippo. Since 1933 over 4 million Zippo lighters have been produced, now usually anything that has a production run of over 4 million would not rate high on the collectors radar but with Zippo, you could not be more wrong.

At a swap meet held in Tokyo, the 2003 autumn edition of IUP magazine reported that a 1933 model was purchased for $18,000, in addition in 2002 Zippo bought one valued at $12,000 for its own collection.

So how would you find out which Zippo,s to look for and how much you could expect to get for them,well the most obvious place to start would be Ebay, at the moment (Friday 2^nd February 2007) the most expensive Zippo is going for £275.00 this is a unique handmade sterling Zippo lighter with dragon, see picture below.
